Singapore's first Krispy Kreme store opens to queuing doughnut fans

Krispy Kreme fans queue a day ahead of the opening of its first Singapore store, starting as early as Friday morning. The popular doughnut chain, which originates from the US, will open on Saturday at Orchard's Tangs Shopping Centre. As part of the celebrations of the opening of this inaugural store in Singapore, it has promised to reward the first person in line with 624 doughnuts, which will be delivered in dozens, for each week throughout a whole year. And that person looks set to be 42-year-old IT Consultant, Weily, who had started queuing at 11:42am.Meanwhile, the second person in the queue, who only wanted to be known as Lilian, started queuing at about 11:45am before her daughter -- 12-year-old daughter, Faith, who just finished her Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) -- joined her much later.A middle-aged woman in the queue who spoke in Chinese to Yahoo Singapore said that the reserving of space (by Lilian for her daughter) was unfair, and she had apparently scolded the daughter. The second and third persons in the queue will receive 312 and 156 doughnuts respectively. These will be given to them throughout a span of six and three months respectively.

Those in the queue have been asked to sign an indemnity form. Persons under 18-years-old are required to have consent from a parent or guardian.

One of the conditions in the form: 'There shall be no securing/reservation of placement in the queue on behalf of any person not present at the time of queue number issuance.'

Another condition stated, 'Restroom breaks are limited to a maximum of 10 minutes, upon the notification to our crowd management officer on duty.'
