Sony today announced the price and availability of the PlayStation 4 console in Singapore. It will go on sale starting December 19 and retail for S$639 for the basic set. Bundles that include the camera or games -- with Battlefield 4 (S$709) or Killzone Shadow Fall (S$699) -- will also be available at launch. See the table below for the Singapore, as well as the corresponding Hong Kong and Taiwan, retail prices.

Notice that the PS4 is retailing for slightly more in Singapore. Sony has kept the price in Hong Kong and Taiwan close to the U.S. retail price of US$399, but customers in Singapore are paying about US$100 more for the basic set. This isn't going to deter gamers who have been waiting eagerly for the next-generation console, but does raise questions as to why customers on the island-state have to pay more.

When asked about the higher Singapore retail price, Hiroyuki Oda, Deputy President of SCEJA said this was due to differences in the market situation in each country, and was not an intentional markup.

Sony will be announcing availability and prices for the other Asia markets by the end of this week -- look out for more information by the end of this week.
