Singapore clash with Malaysia in Causeway derby at SEA Games

Singapore's Sahil Suhaimi (left) will look to add to his three-goal tally, having struck in every game so far. ... The old enemies will clash again at the SEA Games when Singapore take on Malaysia on Sunday evening at the Zayar Thiri Stadium in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. The Young Lions currently sit top of Group A after three games with two wins and one draw. A 1-1 stumble against Laos in their opening match was followed by a surprise 1-0 win over Vietnam, before a 2-0 victory over Brunei on Friday evening left them well-placed to progress.A draw for Aide Iskandar's charges against Malaysia will see them qualify for the semi-finals, but the defending champions won't be easy opponents.Ong Kim Swee's team look to be in imperious form, having won both their matches so far. A 2-0 triumph over Brunei got them started, before they thumped Laos 4-1 to leave them with maximum points from their games.Ahmad Hazwan Bakri, who scored a hat-trick against Laos, will be a real threat to the Singapore defence. Fellow forward Rozaimi Abdul Rahman will also be one to watch, while the skilful Nazmi Faiz has the ability to surprise off the bench. In Sahil Suhaimi, Singapore have their own offensive spearhead as the striker looks to add to his three-goal tally, having struck in every game so far. Captain Hariss Harun had a good game against Brunei and will be key to dominating the midfield here, while Safuwan Baharudin and Afiq Yunos will expect to be severely tested by Malaysia. Shahfiq Ghani is expected to return to the starting line-up after suspension and with Izzdin Shafiq doing well against Brunei, Aide will have some tough decisions to make regarding the set-up. Nazrul Nazari and Gabriel Quak are also available, boosting his options.A victory for Malaysia will see them advance to the semi-finals and leave Singapore's fate out of their own hands, so there is plenty at stake here. 'Important win (4-1) against Laos yesterday,' Ong tweeted. 'Now the real test against Singapore tomorrow to secure a place in the semifinals.'The match will kick off at 5.30p.m. on Sunday and will be shown live on television.
