Singapore share prices ended 0.40% lower on Monday as dealers bet that the US Federal Reserve will announce a cut in its stimulus programme at its policy meeting this week.

SINGAPORE: Singapore share prices ended 0.40% lower on Monday as dealers bet that the US Federal Reserve will announce a cut in its stimulus programme at its policy meeting this week.


The blue-chip Straits Times Index (STI) fell 12.25 points to end at 3,053.77.


In the broader market, the turnover was 1.82 billion shares worth S$725.3 million. Losers beat gainers 248 to 161.


Shares of penny stock Asiasons Capital fell 5.6% to S$0.136 after the company said in a statement its proposed subscription in September of more than 2 million new ordinary shares had lapsed.


Among the gainers, Singapore Airlines rose 0.90% to S$10.14 after the airline announced its unit Scoot and Thailand's Nok Airlines plan to establish a low-cost carrier based in Bangkok with an initial investment of about S$80 million.
