Singapore Airlines to differentiate through service


Singapore Airlines has indicated that it is looking at steady and progressive growth model and would remain focused on improving products & services to the long haul Indian travellers.


'We always look at steady and progressive growth here. We will continue to focus on consistency, reliability and better travel experience as our key differentiating factors. We are not into numbers game. Our Airlines will strive for sustained focus on improving products and services relevant to the savvy Indian customers,' Singapore Airlines' General Manager - India, David Lau, who has recently taken charge, told The Hindu.


Substantial growth

He said Indian market has seen substantial growth in the last five years. Travellers to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia and China have increased year-on-year.


'Our code share partnerships and alliances reinforce our efforts to support the rising demand. To support this growth in India, Singapore Airlines injected capacity with the recent additions of a three daily flights from New Delhi, four weekly flights from Visakhapatnam and 10 weekly flights from Kochi. Synergies between Singapore Airlines and Silk Air provide passengers with convenient connections to long-haul destinations using Changi Airport as an effective hub,' he said.. Mr.Lau also said though there are many concerns like rising fuel prices for the airline operators, there is a need to look at costs and try to operate more efficiently.


'We, as airlines, need to be more nimble, need to come out with new ideas, packages, and processes to make it suitable to youngsters,' he stated.


It may be noted that Singapore Airlines and Tata Group have proposed joint venture for operating domestic flights in India and the proposal is awaiting some key approvals from Indian government.
