Singapore PM in KL to attend Malaysia

Lee was received upon arrival by KLCC Property Holdings Bhd Executive Director Hashimah Hashim.

Some 30 members of his entourage also joined in the one-hour tour of the twin towers.

Earlier, the Singapore Prime Minister was accorded an official welcome by Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin upon his arrival at 2.20pm at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Lee, who will attend the annual Leaders' Retreat with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, was accompanied by his wife, Ho Ching as well as Singapore's senior officials.

He is scheduled to attend a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at the Prime Minister's Office tomorrow.

According to a statement from Wisma Putra, the retreat, organised alternately by Malaysia and Singapore, provides the leaders with an avenue to explore and discuss new initiatives and further collaborations to further strengthen the bilateral ties between Malaysia and Singapore

The fifth Malaysia-Singapore Leaders' Retreat, held in Putrajaya this year, is a platform for both leaders to take stock of bilateral cooperation between both countries.

Their last meeting took place in Singapore in February last year, which saw the leaders agreeing on a high-speed rail link between the republic and Kuala Lumpur, which would significantly cut travel time between both countries to just 90 minutes. -- BERNAMA
