Singapore tourism video ridiculed

An attempt by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to lure more Filipino visitors with a video campaign has ended in acute embarrassment.


The two-minute clip was published earlier this month, but with its terrible dubbing, ear-numbing soundtrack and ludicrious script, it was widely ridiculed on social media websites, prompting its removal from STB's Facebook page and YouTube channel, with a spokesman adding it 'was not resonating well with audiences'.


And no wonder. The video, which follows a grinning couple as they celebrate their anniversary in Singapore, packs more cheese than a bottomless fondue.


'Honey! Look,' squeals the female star, on more than one occasion. Along with air-headed lines like 'Oh! Let's go there.' and 'Wow! Amazing.'


The coup de grace comes with a surprise present for her husband, a pregnancy test displaying a positive result, presented in a jewellery box. Brilliant.
