Goal Singapore readers tip Germany to beat Argentina in World Cup final

Joachim Low's men are favourites to lift the trophy in Brazil at the Maracana but the South Americans will not roll over easily in the grand finale

And then there were two. The 2014 World Cup in Brazil has come down to this and it will be Germany versus Argentina in the final, as both battle for ultimate supremacy in the Maracana.

Both teams have not convinced at times, but ultimately it is getting the eventual victory that matters and they have done it better than any of the other 32 teams have fallen by the wayside.

After coming in third in the past two editions and second in 2002, Die Mannschaft have the chance to end their trophy drought that stretches back to 1990 in the competition. That year was when they beat La Albiceleste to the crown, with this year being the first final for the latter since then.

Neither side will be short on motivation, although the majority of Goal Singapore readers have tipped Joachim Low and his charges to triumph. 63.6% of those polled believe the German machine will be too strong for Lionel Messi and company to overcome, with only 36.4% pulling for the South Americans.

Scheduled for the morning of July 14, Singapore time, the showdown promises to be a gripping final game to round it all off. Who will you be rooting for?
