The father of film star Nicole Kidman died of an apparent heart attack after morning exercise Friday, stunning his family.

Dr. Antony Kidman, a clinical psychologist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia, fell at the Tanglin Club, a prominent social club in Singapore, where he was visiting his daughter Antonia, who lives there, local media reported.

Kidman had just completed an exercise routine and entered the club's Wheelhouse restaurant when he collapsed, according to The Straits Times.

A spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed to the local broadsheet that they received a call requesting medical assistance at 8:10 a.m., local time.

People in the restaurant were already performing CPR on Kidman, who was in his 80s, by the time paramedics arrived, the spokesman said.

Kidman was pronounced dead at a local hospital, The Strait Times reported.

A police spokesman told Reuters they are 'investigating the unnatural death.'

According to ABC News, the Oscar-winning actress' rep said in a statement: 'Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father. She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time.'

Dr. Kidman was awarded an Order of Australia medal in 2005 for his contributions to the field of psychology.

His famous daughter was at her home in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday night when she learned of her father's death.

Her husband, country rocker Keith Urban, was scheduled to play a charity event Thursday night at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., for his friend Ken Ehrlich, who produces the Grammys. He cancelled at the last minute so he could board a private jet to fly home to be with his wife, TMZ reported.

Nicole Kidman was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1967, when her parents were studying there. But the family moved to Sydney at the age of four.
